It’s Friday and we are in week six of our 52 Project. Please click the link at the bottom of each post to view 17 amazing interpretations! Don’t stop until you are directed back to me. These awesome women never cease to amaze me! This week’s theme is LOVE.
When I think of love the first thought that comes to mind is the ubiquitous ROSE. I was drawn to it plus I had it sitting on my dining room table. Convenient, right? However, as I began to think about this ROSE, I came to realize that it was symbolic of so much more. The ubiquity that I had given this rose was replaced by wonderful memories associated with this beautiful sweet smelling flower. When the CDR and I were first married, I planted red roses in our first’s home backyard garden. They had some trouble growing but as soon as our lawn man trimmed them. They bloomed beautifully! I made sure to plant them again in our next “new” home. With as often as we move, it was important to have a constant or familiarity besides ourselves and our belongings. For me planting my favorite flowers whether they were roses or not symbolized the start of new family memories, our new life in a new state, our new home. Moving often takes great courage, patience as well as a sense of adventure. We always make the best of it.
ROSE=LOVE
Option 2, a heart from J2 which hangs from the ceiling in my office.

I love this Gigi!! Gorgeous rose, gorgeous BW and sweet, sweet heart 😀
That homemade heart is absolutely adorable, and that bw conversion of the rose is so cool!!!
The flower shot is beautiful and the heart is absolutely adorable
Gigi, I feel like you wrote this post for me. I think I need to figure out what flower means love to me and plant them… Stat!
I love this. I love that a rose can hold such meaning. I love your comp and your conversion. Beautiful.
Yes Sarah, go plants some flowers..let your kiddos pick some out too..in their favorite colors!
I love these! The heart is so great! A great reminder of love!
The heart is my fav, and your BW conversion on the rose is beautiful. The symbolism of the rose to your family is very sweet.
Thank you all for your comments! Aww, big hugs to you all!
I love both images equally. Processing the rose as a bw really makes you stop and notice the form and texture of the rose itself. It’s beautiful. And I’m a big fan of the white light in the heart pic. Lots of light makes me happy.
On roses being a constant anchor to you of love and home… I like that image. My husband’s grandmother had what she called a Memory Garden. It was actually just the flower bed around her small home, but it had a special meaning because almost of the plants in it had come as cuttings from people she loved. We have a cutting now of what she always called, “Ma’s Roses.” I never met her Ma, but having the roses in my own flowerbed makes me think of stories of her whenever I’m near them. The roses have really carried her memory and stories of her love down through generations.
Great job this week on the theme! 🙂
Emily! What a beautiful story and tradition to have passed down. Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing your story with me!
Gorgeous images Gigi 🙂
