This week’s theme is “Love”… ooh la la. We had an amazing Valentine’s as always. We as a family always exchange Valentines treats with each other. This year I made red velvet cupcakes with homemade raspberry filling and cream cheese frosting. They were amazing. I have had a hard time finding a good red velvet recipe and an awesome friend was kind enough to share her grandma’s recipe. You can find it here. You will not be disappointed! The commander and I finished off the night with a wonderful six course dinner. I also received the most beautiful flower arrangement along with my favorite candy, jordan almonds. AND some gorgeous new champagne flutes. I love him so much, he is always so thoughtful regardless of the time, day or occasion.

Happy Valentine’s Day

Well it’s the day after for us. We had a wonderful time though and exchanged goodies. It was a lot of fun! The kids really look forward to showing how much they love and appreciate one another. This just melts my heart and it’s so sweet to see. J2 made some Valentine confetti, recipe courtesy of The Blessed Nest for her siblings. It was so cute though, she made sure to taste test every single ingredient. The CDR and I had a wonderful Valentine dinner, it was an amazing 8 course meal with a caviar reception. Fabulous. AND we had some snow! What a way to end an evening!

Relaxing

There is nothing more therapeutic for me than cooking or baking for fun. Well beside running which I love to do but don’t do much of it, lol. One thing I do enjoy is making marinara for the family. I can feel the stress of “must do’s” of the day just melting away with every stir of the pot. I double the recipe which will then make about 5 meals. The kids really love it. I like making my own because then I know exactly what’s going into it. I divide the sauce (4 cups each), vacuum seal them and then freeze. The recipe I use is by Giada de Laurentiis, it’s simple yet delicious. I love her, BTW.
