We are at week 5 of our 52 Week Project. This has been a great experience for me so far and I am enjoying getting to know the other 17 amazing photographers via their photographs. Please click the link at the bottom of each post to view everyone’s interpretation. Don’t stop until you are directed back to me. You wont be disappointed! This week’s theme is Motion/s.
Photographing motion is always fun for me especially since my children do not stand still. I have been wanting to photograph J2 in this handmade apron for sometime now. It was a gift from her Buela. This image was my most favorite because its like she’s running out of the frame. Too bad there is only a partial view of the apron but I like it.
Please head on over to Hannah Mayo – Palm Beach FL Family Lifestyle Photographer and her interpretation. See you next week!
There is nothing more therapeutic for me than cooking or baking for fun. Well beside running which I love to do but don’t do much of it, lol. One thing I do enjoy is making marinara for the family. I can feel the stress of “must do’s” of the day just melting away with every stir of the pot. I double the recipe which will then make about 5 meals. The kids really love it. I like making my own because then I know exactly what’s going into it. I divide the sauce (4 cups each), vacuum seal them and then freeze. The recipe I use is by Giada de Laurentiis, it’s simple yet delicious. I love her, BTW.
I am always amazed at how children are able to create, learn and entertain themselves, without a toy in sight. Like making butterflies from toilet paper rolls. I don’t know about others but for my children, these are the most fun. I remember a time when we wouldn’t buy our son a toy gun. He just made himself one out of masking tape and paper rolls, very creative. Here Z is playing with a cheerio and watching our dog too. The light was beautiful, and she was thoroughly entertained. Beautiful moment for me.
We received a call this morning!!! A security guard saw the sign at Starbucks and recognized the bike. We still dont know if it was taken, found or picked up by security. Nonetheless, we are very excited to have found it! And we have one happy little girl. She asked to make brownies and write a thank you for the kind man who called. SWEET.
We are at week four of our 52 week project. 18 amazing photographer, 18 interpretations. To read more about it, go here. This week’s theme is “SIGNS”.
This theme could not have come at a better time. Last week, our 8 yr old’s bicycle was stolen from her elementary school. We bought it a few days before Christmas. Dec 20 to be exact. This was her first big girl bike with the brake levers on the handle bars. So exciting! So she decides to take it school. We don’t have a bike lock, never thought we needed one. We live in a very safe community, so who would take the bike? And so after choir practice she walked home. It didn’t occur to us that she left her bike until after we were heading out to walk our dog, the next day. We walked to the school only to find her helmet, no bike. K was upset, I was fuming. Hubby and I decided that it would be a good idea to post flyers or “signs”. So we typed some up and posted them over the weekend. We even have one up at the Starbuck’s and at the school’s bike rack. It has been a week and nothing. It’s gone. Whenever I head out to run an errand I cant keep myself from taking an extra look here or there. I have been taking different routes home in hopes of finding it too. K is soooo sweet and offered to use her birthday money to buy a new one. I don’t think I’ll let her do that. Even when we do buy her a new one, I don’t know when I’ll eventually stop looking.
On a lighter note! Check out the awesome Hannah Mayo | West Palm Beach, FL Photographer’s new website (love it) and her interpretation of this week’s theme! See you next week!
Z had her 12 mo check up this past week. She is doing great! She has been having some sleep issues though. We think it may be the separation anxiety kicking in. I’ve been having to go to her room and place her back to sleep. So that makes for a very sleep deprived Mommy and very grumpy baby. I hope it passes soon and look forward to sleeping through the night again. What’s a Mommy to do?
We are now at week 3 of our 52 week project. 18 amazing photographers, 18 different interpretations. You can read more about it here. This has been an exciting three weeks and I am looking forward to MANY more! This week’s theme is “Warmth”. This image was my favorite. Read below as to why. 🙂
I absolutely LOVE scarfs/wraps or whatever you want to call them. I have a number of scarves, lol. I’m sure my oldest would say that I was obsessed. Okay, maybe just a little. These pashminas were given to me by the CDR on the return from one of his long trips. They are a wool blend and very very warm. So warm they make me giggle, haha. A great to way to brighten up a gloomy winter’s day and also a reminder of the CDR’s thoughtfullness.
When I think of warmth, why think of scarves? Why such a literal interpretation? Truthfully, I’m freezing my tush off right now. Winter is not my favorite season. I’m sure if the theme “warmth” was given in any other season then maybe I would have gone another route. Isn’t it interesting that an interpretation can be affected by a season, a particular time in your life or some other factor? I find this so interesting.
Now head on over to see the amazingly talented Hannah Mayo | West Palm Beach, FL Photographer for her interpretation of this weeks them! See you next week!
…well just a little little bit.
My oldest daughter is a Senior this year. I have often thought of this time in my life but never imagined that it would sneak up on me like this. We all want our children to be successful. We want them to be healthy, smart and compassionate. We want so much for them. What I worry most is that I haven’t prepared her enough for the real world. I’m sure most parents feel this way, right? Why is letting go so hard? Is it because she is my first born? I know I have nothing to worry about. She is a super smart girl, math whiz and so outgoing. Right Baby? I know she will be successful in anything she does and whatever career she’ll pursue. She is an amazing person with a strong will and heart. Her determination will get her very far.
I know you will do very well baby, I believe in you. When tears do fall on that special day, they will be from pure joy and pride for you! You are so awesome S. The best daughter a Mom & Dad could ever have or hope for. Unbeknown to you, thanks for being our guinea pig too, haha. I’m sure your siblings will thank you later.
We will always be here for you no matter what. Life will be challenging but we know you’ll perverse. So we’ll let you spread your wings a bit…. well just a little little bit.
Here is a quote for you S, I love you! Edited of course 🙂
“I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life’s a b****. You’ve got to go out and kick a**.” – Maya Angelou
Last week was the start of my 52 Week Project that I am taking part in with 16 other amazing photographers. This week’s theme is Shades of Red.
So I had an image in my head, I have a lot of those moments, lol. Usually they get pushed to the wayside, forgotten. Sometimes forever. It’s the lack of time that gets me. I usually get caught up in the everyday mundane that taking the time to do something for myself is not very high on my priority list. Well it should be! So with this project I’ve been allowing myself the time to try to recreate what I see. I took a few minutes throughout the week to brainstorm. I’m extremely happy with my results. So then, it was difficult for me to choose just ONE image. I’m sure some of you can relate especially when choosing images of your children, photo galleries or blogs. They all must be included, right?
Here is my favorite image. The irony behind it was that it was last minute and very spontaneous. I asked J2 to pick up the M&Ms I was photographing. She was also wearing (totally coincidental) her red poppies blouse. Can you believe it? All that planning, lol. Enjoy!
The ones I didn’t choose…
Now head on over to see the talented and beautiful Hannah Mayo | West Palm Beach Photographer and her image. Don’t forget to check back every Friday @ 9:00 am, EST to see what’s next!
Well its that time of year for us. The extremely tempting, unavoidable “girl scout cookie” time. We each have our own favorites but rarely venture away from the thin mint. They sell out of thin mints and short bread pretty fast here. M asked if she could replenish our faves and of course I said “yes”. Well they were sold out (of course) and she came back with some “Thanks-a-lot” cookies. A shortbread cookies with a layer of fudge on bottom. Can you say…”Yummy”. We’ve never had these before. And to add to the excitement, they had thank you written in five different languages. Loved this concept as I feel that it’s always very important to thank someone for their thoughtfulness or efforts. Getting a random thank you in the mail or even an unexpected thank you when going about your every day means…well “a lot”! So give a random thank you today.
Thanks a lot, a really cool cookie. Check out the Girl Scouts Cookie Guide and start a list. Hopefully they’ll be in your neighborhood soon.
Since we ate all the gracias ones, here is a thank you for you!
M asked me to add a joke instead of a random fact. “Do mummies enjoy being dead? Of corpse!” haha
